Doing Physics with Matlab Quantum Physics Hydrogen Atom Selection Rules Transition Rates
نویسنده
چکیده
qp_rules.m Calculates for a hydrogen atom, the transition rate and lifetime for a transition from an initial state (n1 l1 ml1) to the final state (n2 l2 ml2). The azimuthal wavefunction is given by an analytical expression, the angular wavefunction is found using the Matlab command legendre and the radial wavefunction is solved by the Matrix Method using the function qp_fh.m. Integrations use the function simpson1d.m. The mscript also can be used to create animated gifs for the oscillation of the probability of compound states. The states have to be changed within the mscript by editing the statement state = [1 0 0 5 1 1];

Quantization of electromagnetic fields in the presence of a spherical semiconductor quantum dot and spontaneous decay of an excited atom doped in this nanostructure
In this paper we consider electromagnetic field quantization in the presence of a dispersive and absorbing semiconductor quantum dot. By using macroscopic approach and Green's function method, quantization of electromagnetic field is investigated. Interaction of a two-level atom , which is doped in a semiconductor quantum dot, with the quantized field is considered and its spontaneous emission ...
متن کاملCoherent Control of Quantum Entropy via Quantum Interference in a Four-Level Atomic System
The time evaluation of quantum entropy in a four-level double- type atomic system is theoretically investigated. Quantum entanglement of the atom and its spontaneous emission fields is then discussed via quantum entropy. It is found that the degree of entanglement can be increased by the quantum interference induced by spontaneous emission. The phase dependence of the atom-field entanglement is...
متن کاملNumerical study of the radial Schrodinger Equation for Hydrogen atom using Legendre wavelet
This paper deals with the Legendre wavelet (LW) collocation method for the numerical solution of the radial Schrodinger equation for hydrogen atom. Energy eigenvalues for the hydrogen bound system is derived -13.6 eV. Numerical results of the ground state modes of wave function for the hydrogen R(r) or the electron probability density function, has been presented. The numerical results ha...
متن کاملSpectroscopic Selection Rules: The Role of Photon States
JChemEd.chem.wisc.edu • Vol. 76 No. 9 September 1999 • Journal of Chemical Education 1291 Selection rules are vital in the interpretation of atomic and molecular spectra. The usual starting point for a derivation of selection rules is the transition moment which, in introductory spectroscopy courses, is normally taken on trust. However, many students find the transition moment to be a somewhat ...
متن کاملA Non-Demolition Photon Counting Method by Four-Level Inverted Y-Type Atom
The semi-classical model of atom-field interaction has been fully studied for some multilevel atoms, e.g. Vee, L, Cascade X , Y, and inverted Y and so on. This issue is developed into the full-quantum electrodynamics formalism, where the probe and coupling electromagnetic fields are quantized. In this article, we investigate the full-quantum model of absorption and dispersion spectrum of trappe...
